From spacious premises in North London, Technical Earth offers sales, service and support specifically tailored to a customer’s individual requirements in both audio and video, with clients ranging from music recording studios and major artist tours to educational institutions.
“We are one of the few companies who still do things the way I believe they should be done. Our background is in engineering and technical expertise, but there has to be an empathy with the requirements of the studio environment - both technical and creative. We take someone's ideas and turn them into the most ergonomically efficient solution without wasting money. Our traditional customer base is doing it for real, for a living, and it has to work now. We don't just sell boxes.”
The People behind Technical Earth
John Fredericks : Managing Director

Technical Earth was founded by John in 1989 to represent his service and support activities after leaving the Wool Hall studios where he was Technical Manager. A Surrey University Tonmeister graduate, with an industrial year spent at CTS during their construction of the first all-digital studio in the early 80s, he had developed expertise in a diverse range of technical skills that saw him being as adept in the studio as working on live events and tours. In the early 1990s he undertook design and technical support work for Garwood on the RadioStation IEM system in the United States, and RF has remained an area of expertise that sees him as a first call expert for large scale events of all types. Despite the company now being a far larger operation, John still considers himself an engineer first and foremost (That’s my life!), as an electronics workbench in the corner of his office confirms.
Dan Page : Technical Sales Manager
As the first point of contact for most of Technical Earth’s customers, Dan is responsible for guiding them from initial contact, all the way through the process to final delivery, helping to choose equipment, overseeing system build, and any additional requirements to aid system integration or interface with an existing set-up. Benefitting from an in-depth knowledge of suitable products, he is equally at home dealing with a customer who knows exactly what they want as one with an idea of what they want to achieve but no idea of how to get there. As a Tonmeister graduate, Dan is equally conversant with musical and technical needs. Prior to joining Technical Earth in 1998, he worked for Dreamhire, HHB, and Audix Broadcast.
